2008 ACTION GOALS

OBJECTIVE: Manage existing programs while striving to attract new events that will make the Daytona Beach Area a more desirable place to live and visit. Accurately inform members and the community of Chamber goals, initiatives and accomplishments.

BIKE WEEK

  • Assist the Bike Week Task Force in the coordination of an internationally recognized festival for motorcycle enthusiasts

  • Implement programs of the Task Force including the Master Plan, licensing, sponsorship, Pocket Guide, official poster, internet site and Welcome Center

  • Work to expand the existing official sponsorship program

CHAMBER NEWSLETTER

  • Publish twelve monthly installments of the Halifax Letter

  • Highlight Chamber initiatives and goals while promoting Chamber member businesses

ANNUAL REPORT / PLAN OF ACTION

  • Complile, edit, print and distribute a detailed report highlighting Chamber accomplishments for 2007 and objectives for 2008

  • Present new Chamber leadership for 2008 tasked with putting these initiatives in motion

"FUN DAY" GOLF TOURNAMENT

  • Coordinate an interactive golf tournament for Chamber members designed to encourage building relationships among local businesses

  • Expand sponsorship base to include secondary sponsors

DAYTONA BEACH SPORTS COUNCIL

  • Work with the Daytona Beach Sports Council and the Central Florida Sports Commission

  • Support professional and amateur sports in the Daytona Beach area

  • Actively pursue economic development opportunities associated with sports

CHAMBER BUSINESS SEMINARS

  • Identify topics of interest to Chamber member companies

  • Hold issue specific seminars designed to inform Chamber members of potential challenges or opportunities

EMERGENCY OPERATIONS

  • Act as the lead agency for Business and Industry in Volusia County Emergency Management

  • Work with the Center for Business Excellence and Emergency Management on the Business Operations (BOC) concept and continue to market that effort to the local business community

  • Present the Business Operations Center (BOC) concept to the 2008 Florida Emergency Preparedness Conference in January

DAYTONA BEACH YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUP (YPG)

  • Act as a liaison with the Daytona Beach Young Professionals Group
  • Assist in administrative and operational efforts
  • Work with YPG leadership to enhance existing programs and events while creating new initiatives

2007 ACCOMPLISHMENTS

BIKEWEEK

  • Bike Week Festival Task Force worked with public and private sectors in implementing the “World’s Largest Motorcycle Event®

  • Generated over $350 million to the local economy

  • Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, Progressive Insurance, Lojack and Red Wing Shoes acted as Official Sponsors during Bike Week 2007

  • Task Force also assisted City staff in securing a la carte signage agreements designed to offset costs
